Earlier this week we published details of how to make a cloth face covering. This was in response to new Government advice on the use of face coverings (available via this link ).

For those who use disposable gloves and face masks, the following advice has been given regarding disposal of such items –

  • Throw away items in ‘black bag’ waste at home or at work, or in a public litter bin.
  • Do not use a recycling bag or bin.
  • Do not buy medical grade Personal Protection (PPE) masks or respirators. These are prioritised for healthcare workers in more high-risk environments. If too many are purchased by others, this may lead to further shortages.
  • Anyone self-isolating at home with confirmed or suspected coronavirus should double-bag their personal waste materials, tie bags securely and store for at least 72 hours before putting out for collection.
