Havering Council have confirmed that the planning application PIP0001.22 to build houses on Green Belt land adjacent to Copthorne Gardens has been refused. The reasons for refusal are shown on the PIP0001.2002Reasons webpage.

The Residents’ Association of Emerson Park team, Laurance Garrard and David Godwin, assisted by Cllr Bob Perry (Havering Residents’ Association – H.R.A), objected to this application, as did many local residents.

Although the applicant is able to appeal the decision to the Planning Inspectorate, this decision shows that in Havering at least, landowners cannot simply cut down trees and destroy wildlife on Green Belt land and expect to be given permission to develop it.
