Electric Vehicle Charging Points – Havering Rates Poorly

Recently published Government figures for the number of electric vehicle charging points per 100,000 people has shown that Havering is in the bottom 20% of local authority areas in the UK. The figures show that in the borough we have only 11 charging points.

This news is a concern to the Residents’ Association of Emerson Park, particularly as we have one of the highest rates of car use in the London area. We will be working with Residents’ Association councillors in neighbouring wards to push to have the numbers of charging points significantly increased by Havering Council.

The Government is presently urging local authorities to apply for some of the £5 million funding available to help build up local charging infrastructure and increase access to charge points for drivers. The Government website giving details is available via this link. The website showing the statistical map is on this link.
