Some people receiving benefits may be eligible to have their water bills capped if they already have a water meter fitted in their home, under the WaterSure scheme. People who qualify for WaterSure, do not pay more than the average household bill for their water company, even if they use more than the average amount of water.
To qualify, someone living at the address needs to be entitled to receive one of a number of different benefits. In addition, the WaterSure claimant must either be responsible and receive child benefit for three or more children under the age of 19 living in the property or someone living in the property must have a medical condition which requires significant additional use of water.
For more information see the Citizens Advice website or contact your water company.
