Scam Warning re Bogus Police

Havering Police have asked that we warn residents that there has been a recent incident of someone being telephoned by a person claiming to be a police officer, saying that someone had been arrested for stealing the resident’s bank cards. This was a bogus call and believed to be an attempt to obtain personal details from the resident.

The police advice is that you should never give out personal details as a result of someone calling you unexpectedly. If this happens, ask them for a reference number and dial 101 from a separate phone number, to confirm their validity.
