Havering Council has taken the decision to re-open the borough’s libraries, with reduced hours at this stage. The projected opening date for Hornchurch and Gidea Park libraries is likely to be Friday 17 July, although this is yet to be officially confirmed.
The initial opening hours for Hornchurch Library will be as follows –
Mon – 2pm – 7pm
Tue – 10am – 3pm
Wed & Thur – Closed
Fri – 10am – 3pm
Sat – 10am – 3pm
The initial opening hours for Gidea Park Library will be as follows –
Mon & Tue – Closed
Wed – 10am – 3pm
Thur – 2pm – 7pm
Fri & Sat – Closed
The council are keen to avoid large numbers of people attending to return books when the libraries first open and so they are continuing not to impose fines for the late return of books. Queues are expected at first and visitors will be asked to wear face masks.
