During the coronavirus pandemic Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) have had a huge surge in people looking for help with their drinking. Times of stress and anxiety can cause issues with substance abuse to escalate and they want people to know the options available for getting the help they need.

The phone line, email, website and chat box are available and through these channels it can be arranged for an AA member to contact anyone who is worried about their drinking.

Phone: 0800 9177 650
Email: help@aamail.org
Website and chatbox: alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk/

They have a wide range of meetings happening online using virtual platforms. These meetings follow a similar format to the physical meetings and are available to everyone free of charge.

A list of online meetings can be found via alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk/AA-Meetings/Find-a-Meeting/Online . A list of London AA meetings can be found via alcoholicsanonymouslondon.com/ .

They encourage any new AA member to contact Alcoholics Anonymous before joining a meeting so that they can help them gain access if necessary.

Al-Anon is also available for anyone affected by someone else’s drinking via al-anonuk.org.uk/
