Havering Election Services e-mails – How to check that they are genuine

Recently, some residents have received an e-mail message from Havering Council’s Election Services team, regarding the Annual Household Canvass. This message asks the recipients to log onto their household’s account to check that the elector details are correct.

This is a new process being introduced by Havering Council as part of Government reforms, which will involve contacting every household in the borough, either by e-mail, text or post.

There has been some concern from residents that the messages received appear very similar to scam e-mails. Although they are genuine, everyone must be aware that criminals might catch on to what Havering (and other councils) are doing and send bogus messages in a similar format.

Genuine e-mails will only be received from the following Havering Council e-mail address – havering.election.services@notifications.service.gov.uk  .
