Havering Council have warned that scammers have been targeting local residents with fake COVID-19 letters, demanding that they register their personal details as part of a coronavirus prevention plan or face prosecution. The website details provided on the letters are bogus.

The letters include the NHS, Department of Health and Social Care, and Havering Council logos at the top but have spelling mistakes and bad grammar in the text. Unlike in the letters, official Government websites begin with www.gov.uk and Havering Council’s start with havering.gov.uk .

Always be scam aware!
