Online magazine and community, Sixty and Me, have published advice on the most common types of fraud that target older people, such as investment, inheritance, identity, romance or even grandparent scams.

A recent local example in Havering is where people have been receiving letters claiming to be from the NHS and Havering Council, requiring them to pay a fee for a (fake or non-existent) COVID-19 test, but more traditional scams, such as a thief trying to con their way into your home while posing as a utility worker etc. are still common.

The Sixty and Me advice is set out is in a clear concise way and can be viewed on their website – sixtyandme.com/seniors-scams/  .

If you think you have been the victim of fraud or cyber crime you can report it on the national Action Fraud website www.actionfraud.police.uk/  .
