Following our recent post, concerning incidents of disorder and intimidation around Havering College’s Ardleigh Green Campus, a senior local police officer briefed councillors last night (17 November 2020) on measures that are being taken to deal with the issues.
There have been a number of arrests and other ongoing investigations are continuing. The police are committed to carrying out regular patrols until the situation improves, which have included an operation at the college entrance, using a drugs dog. The police and the college are also working together on problem solving measures, to reduce the risks of more problems occurring in the future.
It is likely that a public meeting will be called for Thursday 26 November, involving council representatives, the police, college officials and other associated groups. The time and method for attending the meeting (which will presumably be online) will be announced in the near future.
