As its name suggests, the London Loop is a 150 mile (242km) long signed walking route around the edge of outer London and celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Broken up into 24 manageable sections, with transport links, the walking is mainly flat and passes through a diverse range of landscapes around the capital, including parks, ancient woodlands, farmland and along rivers and canals.

Section 22 of the Loop is just over 4 miles in length and passes through Upminster. Starting at Harold Wood station, the route takes you through Harold Wood Park, then follows the river Ingrebourne through Pages Wood and on to open fields beside Upminster golf course, before finishing at Upminster Bridge station.

The detailed route guides with maps for all 24 sections have recently been updated and are free to download at: innerlondonramblers.org.uk/loop then click on the Loop logo.
