The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch have asked us to highlight that the production of Princess Essex, which is currently touring venues across Essex, will be presented at the Queen’s Theatre for one performance only at 7.30pm on Sunday 27 February 2022.
‘Southend-on-Sea, Essex. 1908. Tired of life, black Essex girl Joanna, decides to take matters into her own hands and enter herself into one of the country’s most prestigious beauty pageants, disguised as a Senegalese Princess.
“These little stories… They aren’t hiding, they were hidden, and we should be asking ourselves why?”
The “little story” in question is being told by the vivacious and frighteningly talented writer and actor Anne Odeke in her one woman play.’
