The New City College (Ardleigh Green Campus) have applied for planning permission (ref. P0285.21) for the following development, which will be funded through GLA grants and land disposal –
- Revised access arrangements
- Relocation of the existing car park
- New cycle sheds
- Demolition of Block P
- Landscaping, including low level lighting in the car park
Although the college is in Squirrels Heath Ward, this proposal will affect residents of Emerson Park Ward as well.
The plan to move the existing car park to the north east boundary of the college, will move cars closer to the houses in Brindles and Birch Crescent. This relocation could potentially impact these residents in the following ways, despite the fact that trees and shrubs are included as part of the landscaping –
- Noise and air pollution
- Impact from the new car park lighting
In the South East part of the plot, which is on the the corner of Garland and Nelmes Way, talks have begun with Signature Senior Lifestyle Homes re the building of a new care home facility. In addition, a small area of this land will be assigned for residential development in the form of three self build plots.
Block P is the current engineering part of the college but the courses that have needed this area, are being relocated in the spring to the campus at Rainham.
We are monitoring these proposals and planned development. Should you wish to view the official plans the link is Ardleigh Green Campus P0285.21 .
